Fiction as a Method of Spatial Care and Education
The lecture explores how fictive narratives and performative gestures can serve as tools for education, perception, and care for public space. Drawing from her ongoing doctoral research at UMPRUM, Savka Marenić presents methodologies and the project Fairy’s Cloak from her site-specific artistic practice, which blends architecture, storytelling, urbanism, education, collaborative work, and embodied gestures. Through examples of participatory and performative projects, she examines how fictional narratives can help cultivate relationships with overlooked or vulnerable spaces and communities — including the more-than-human inhabitants of our shared environment. The lecture invites reflection on how storytelling can contribute to new forms of spatial knowledge, sensitivity, and care.
