In the past, the water pump was an important element in the life of the inhabitants. It was an indicator of the diverse activities in the public space that fulfilled not only their daily hygienic needs. The proposal closely follows the original form of the water pump that was removed. It relates to its location, materiality, and to its functioning in the public space. The artwork plays with the spectators’ experience and expectations, their imagination, a certain mystique, and techno-nostalgia that water pumps evoke in us all. The water pump will become part of an already very specific environment of the Žižkov neighborhood and through its functioning will support the life of its human and non-human inhabitants.
