At the Palm (U Palmy) 𖧧 is a fictional name for the public space in Palmovka in front of the synagogue that became a temporary square during my artist residency. The project aimed to map and claim this transitional place before it becomes a chapter in a planned metropolitan plan or a marketing slogan for a new neighborhood.
Through field research, conversations with locals, performative situations, and artistic collaborations, I create space for multiple ways of experiencing and representing a place. Rather than presenting a single narrative, the project brings together different perspectives, memories, and stories, allowing a place to emerge through the relationships that shape it.
During my artistic residency I was curious to find out what is the most "palm-like" thing about Palmovka. From the storytelling and experiences gathered, a sound collage called Palma and a video essay emerged. Together we gathered for a picnic among objects by billionpalms, explored the surroundings through a crossword puzzle, listened in with Jonáš Balcar at the Beach, and exchanged objects and stories at the Pawnshop that disrupted the usual paths of movement through the space.
The tables was created by billionpalms a collaborative project by sculptor Tereza Tecl Brussmannová and architect Vojtěch Tecl (billionpalms).
